I have been a lousy blogger. I haven’t really posted anything constructive on my blog for over a year now. There were a couple of posts lined up, but with everything new that has happened this last year, and the fact that it’s 2020 (duh), words haven’t been spilling that easily.

It all started out as just being busy, first with the wedding, then the honeymoon, and then the worldwide pandemic.
It all started out as just being busy first with the wedding, then with the honeymoon, and then with all the post-wedding hoopla. And then thanks to a worldwide pandemic, 2020 just got busier and tougher with each passing day. Before you have time to process everything, there’s the lockdown and covid and everything. With lesser access to house help, it just kept increasing the workload at home. And then I suddenly started falling short of topics, sometimes just was plain bored and didn’t want to work on anything at all. It felt like a mental block (Yes that is a real thing especially in blogger life). Like my brain just didn’t want to do the hard work that goes into writing and editing.

Let me say this out loud…
It’s not that I don’t like blogging or that I don’t want to be a blogger. I LOVE writing and it has always helped me to write about things that truly matter to me. Especially writing about travel has been my hot topic ever since I started blogging. It’s just I have never been good at, or even keen on self-promotion. It’s just not my style. I started blogging just as a hobby, and because I wanted to write and keep friends and family updated about the fascinating things I was doing in life.
Blogger life
Over the last couple of years, I have met fellow travel bloggers and followed their journey from part-time hobby bloggers to full-time professional bloggers. And I am thrilled for them and their journey. But you must know that blogging is a full-time job. It looks fun like life couldn’t offer anything better, but it is exhausting with all the editing and word count, and SEO and all the behind the scenes a blog requires.

And then there’s the whole thing about being a tech-wizard when it comes to blogging. Writing according to SEO, word ranking… blah blah blah. This last year I have had so much technical trouble with the website which I just couldn’t sort out by myself. So recently I hired professional help and got that sorted too, which is when I realized I need to start feeling more inspired and get my frontal cortex exercising.

That being said…
I am not going anywhere. I don’t want to shut the blog down. I know I don’t have a huge fan base or a very large reader base, but I want to keep posting and keep inspiring everyone who wishes to be. I am more active on my Instagram handle than this page here, but I am going to work or some good content. How’s that for a resolution, eh?

Also, I am not going to restrict myself to travel alone. I have read so many blogs for such a long time now. And the one thing I took away from each is how to successfully manage a variety of topics, keeping my own and my readers’ interests a priority. After all, it’s nice to have options, right?

A loud cheer to everyone who is going through a similar phase and who read through this. And if you’ve managed to reach here, it’d be awesome to read and be inspired. So, if you have any good blogs you think would help, or if you’ve written something, shoot the link below in the comments section, and I’ll give it a read.
This year has been one to remember, one to learn from (and one to run from :P), so let’s push all the rough roads behind and look at the horizon on the other end. Let’s all stay safe, check in on friends and family, and embrace the new normal.

Meanwhile, if you are looking to read some fun travel books, here’s my list of top 5 travel books to look out for.

Thats really good reason for writing about your excitement, journey, emotion with tone of love.
I think sometimes we have to take a break. That doesn’t make you a lousy blogger… you are just living life and storing more things to write about!
Thank you for your honesty in this post. I can understand where you are coming from. This year has really sucked the energy and creativity out of me and I have had a hard time being as productive as usual. Sending you lots of love and good vibes.
